Australia’s Ellyse Perry has made a significant move up the women’s ODI batting rankings, climbing to fourth place after her outstanding century against India. Perry’s performance has underscored her consistent form and solidified her position among the top batters in the format.

South Africa’s captain, Laura Wolvaardt, has also seen a rise in the rankings, reclaiming her spot as the No. 1 batter following a strong start to the home series against England. Wolvaardt, who previously topped the rankings after the 2022 World Cup, played crucial innings of 59 not out and 35 in the first two matches of the series, moving up one place to secure the top position.

England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt, who had held the No. 1 spot, dropped to third after scoring 0 and 20 in the first two games against South Africa. Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu continues to hold the No. 2 position, showcasing her steady performance in the international arena.

Tryon, Kapp, Perry, and Prendergast make notable ranking gains.

Chloe Tryon was another South African batter who made significant progress in the rankings, rising eight places to joint-17th after her 45-run performance in the second ODI. Among the bowlers, Marizanne Kapp advanced three positions to sixth place and continued to hold her spot as the top-ranked allrounder.

Several Australian players also saw improvements in their rankings following their dominant start to the home ODI series against India, which they lead 2-0. Ellyse Perry notably moved up to fourth in the batters’ rankings after her impressive 75-ball 105 in Brisbane. Veteran seamer Megan Schutt also made a leap, climbing to second in the bowlers’ rankings after taking six wickets in the series.

In the T20I rankings, Ireland’s young allrounder Orla Prendergast made the most significant strides, breaking into the top 10 allrounders’ list. Prendergast was instrumental in Ireland’s series sweep against Bangladesh, contributing 54 runs and taking ten wickets. She is now ranked joint-ninth.

Litton to Captain Bangladesh in West Indies T20I Series

Shamim Hossain has made a return to the Bangladesh national team, while 21-year-old Ripon Mondol earns his first call-up to a full-strength squad. Mondol, a tall medium-fast bowler, previously played three T20Is during the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, where he took four wickets and helped Bangladesh secure third place in the tournament.

However, the team will be without Najmul Hossain Shanto, the regular all-format captain, who is still recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the series against Afghanistan in November. His absence leaves a gap in the team’s leadership, as the side looks to maintain consistency in his absence.

Additionally, there is no update regarding the availability or future of Shakib Al Hasan in international cricket. The star allrounder’s status remains uncertain, adding an element of unpredictability to the team’s lineup and future planning.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz leads Bangladesh in ODI series with squad changes.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who led Bangladesh in the two-Test series in the Caribbean that ended in a 1-1 draw, is also captaining the team in the ongoing ODI series.

Several players from the last T20I squad, which played in India in October, are missing from the current lineup. These include Towhid Hridoy (recovering from a groin injury), Mustafizur Rahman (taking a break after becoming a father), and Rakibul Hasan. Mahmudullah, who retired from T20I cricket, is also absent.

Joining the squad for this series are Shamim Hossain and Ripon Mondol, along with fast bowler Hasan Mahmud, left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed, top-order batter Soumya Sarkar—who recently played a pivotal role in Rangpur Riders’ Global Super League title win—and middle-order batter Afif Hossain.
