Meanwhile, Rajshahi Division caused an upset by defeating the champions, Sylhet Division, by 54 runs in the last round, ending Sylhet’s unbeaten streak and their hopes of a consecutive title.

Rajshahi, batting first, were dismissed for 226 runs. Sabbir Hossain starred with his third first-class century, and he shared a solid opening partnership of 119 runs with Habibur Rahman Sohan. However, Rajshahi’s innings fell apart after the strong start. Fast bowler Sofor Ali shined with a career-best five-wicket haul, while Tofael Ahmed contributed with four wickets, ensuring Sylhet’s defeat.

Nihaduzzaman Shines as Rajshahi Defeats Sylhet; Dhaka Metro Claims Second Place

Sylhet Division were bowled out for 212 in their second innings, despite solid half-centuries from captain Amite Hasan and Pinak Ghosh. Amite’s performance brought his tournament total to an impressive 700 runs. Left-arm spinner Nihaduzzaman was the standout bowler for Rajshahi, taking four crucial wickets, while Shafiqul Islam, Asaduzzaman Payel, and legspinner Wasi Siddiquee each contributed with two wickets.

Rajshahi’s second innings saw them dismissed for 186, with Sofor Ali, Tofael Ahmed, and Nabil Samad sharing the spoils, each taking three wickets. Amite struck another fifty, showcasing his consistent form, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Sylhet’s defeat as they were bowled out for 146 in the fourth innings. Nihaduzzaman’s exceptional match performance of 5 for 24 secured him career-best match figures of 9 for 85, earning him the Player-of-the-Match award. Amite, who amassed 785 runs throughout the tournament, was named Player of the Tournament for his outstanding contribution, leading Sylhet to the title.

In another notable result, Dhaka Metropolis secured second place in the standings after defeating Chattogram Division by five wickets in Rajshahi. Chattogram, batting first, were dismissed for 160 runs, with left-arm spin duo Rakibul Hasan and Arif Ahmed sharing eight wickets between them. Dhaka Metro’s response was led by Aich Mollah, whose 57 helped them reach 268 and establish a 108-run lead.

Chattogram’s second innings featured strong efforts from Sajjadul Haque and Nayeem Hasan, who each scored fifties, but they were ultimately bowled out for 246. Arif Ahmed continued to shine with five wickets, while left-arm quick Abu Hider took four. Dhaka Metro successfully chased down the target of 141 runs in just 29.5 overs, completing a decisive win to finish the match and the competition strongly.

Barishal Clinches First Win with Dominant Performance; Rana Shines in Drawn Khulna-Rangpur Match

Barishal Division secured their first win of the season with a commanding 122-run victory over Dhaka Division in Bogra. Batting first, Barishal set a strong total of 289, thanks to fifties from Sohag Gazi and Fazle Mahmud. Dhaka’s reply was bolstered by Rony Talukdar’s impressive 12th first-class century, guiding the team to 310 for 9. However, Barishal’s second innings ended at 241, giving them a lead of 220 runs.

The match was decided by left-arm quick Ruyel Miah, who delivered a match-winning performance with six wickets, bowling Dhaka out for just 98 in their final innings. His exceptional spell ensured Barishal’s comprehensive win, showcasing their dominance in the match.

In Khulna, a drawn encounter between Khulna Division and Rangpur Division featured a standout performance by fast bowler Mehedi Hasan Rana. Rana claimed 11 wickets in the match, marking only the second 10-wicket haul of the season and the first of his first-class career. He took 7 for 31 in Rangpur’s first innings, dismissing them for 133 in response to Khulna’s 244. Khulna declared their second innings at 147 for 6, setting Rangpur a target. Rangpur, batting out the remaining 55 overs, finished at 242 for 7, with Rana taking four more wickets in the second innings.
