Bangladesh cruised to an 80-run victory over the West Indies in the third T20I at the Arnos Vale Ground, completing a dominant 3-0 series win. This marked their first T20I series sweep in almost two years, capping off a successful tour of the West Indies. Bangladesh posted a strong 189/7 before bowling out the hosts for just 109, their lowest total ever against Bangladesh. The margin of victory was Bangladesh’s second-largest in T20I history. Jaker played a key role, scoring 72* off 41 balls, while Rishad impressed with three wickets.
Jaker Ali capped off his tour as the MVP with a stunning match-winning performance. His unbeaten 72 guided Bangladesh to 189/7, their highest score in the West Indies, before Rishad Hossain played a key role in bowling the hosts out cheaply.
Jaker had been involved in a mix-up with Shamim Hossain and walked off the field on 18. However, TV umpire Zahid Bassarath ruled Shamim out, as Jaker had crossed the crease after him. This decision sparked a dramatic turnaround, with Jaker smashing six sixes and three fours in a blistering 41-ball knock.

Bangladesh got off to their best start of the series with the bat. Parvez Hossain Emon, who replaced the injured Soumya Sarkar, attacked debutant Jayden Seales and Romario Shepherd in the first three overs. Parvez then launched Alzarri Joseph over wide long-on for his first six. However, Litton Das fell for 14, his first double-digit score in six innings across formats.
Parvez kept the pressure on the fast bowlers, smashing Joseph for his second six over long-on. But on the next ball, Justin Greaves caught Parvez at square leg after a couple of fumbles. Parvez made 39 off 21 balls, helping Bangladesh post their best powerplay score of the series, with 54 runs.
Bangladesh were 102/4 at the start of the 14th over when Jaker hit Gudakesh Motie towards deep midwicket. Noticing Obed McCoy injuring himself while attempting to catch the ball, Jaker signaled to Shamim to avoid taking the third run as the ball spilled away from McCoy.
In the next over, a communication breakdown between Jaker and Shamim led to both batters ending at the striker’s end and Roston Chase breaking the stumps at the bowler’s end. Jaker, who had run to the striker’s end, was furious with Shamim. As he walked off, the third umpire reviewed the situation and found that Jaker had reached the crease before Shamim. The fourth umpire, Gregory Brathwaite, called Jaker back to the field after removing his gear in the dressing room, allowing him to continue his innings. The tension between Jaker and Shamim was palpable as they crossed paths near the boundary, not even acknowledging each other.
As if one dramatic run-out wasn’t enough, Mahedi Hasan also ran out over the same period. However, Jaker quickly regrouped in the next over, launching Joseph straight down the ground for his second six.
McCoy conceded 20 runs in the 18th over, as Jaker and Tanzim Hasan Sakib hit a six. Jaker blasted McCoy with a slog sweep while Tanzim swung him over long-on. Joseph’s final over saw him give away 25 runs, with Jaker hitting three sixes in the last four balls of the innings. This turned out to be Bangladesh’s best-ever 20th over in a T20I.
For the third consecutive game, West Indies lost half their side before reaching 50. After Taskin Ahmed dismissed Brandon King early, as he had in the previous two matches, Greaves was caught at long-on off Mahedi. Johnson Charles and Nicholas Pooran hit a few boundaries. Still, Pooran was dismissed by Mahedi for the third time in the series, bowled off an inside edge for 15. West Indies ended the powerplay on 45/3.
As if Pooran’s dismissal wasn’t enough, Charles was run out shortly after, appearing slow to reach the crease while completing a single. Rishad’s throw caught him short, just two balls after Hasan Mahmud had dismissed Roston Chase for a duck.
Rishad continued to shine, claiming three wickets. The leg-spinner had Rovman Powell caught behind in the tenth over with a dipping delivery, leaving West Indies at 60/6. In his final over, the 15th of the innings, Rishad had Motie caught straight down the ground. At the same time, Joseph offered a simple catch to Hasan at extra cover. Tanzim and Taskin then took the last two wickets, triggering celebrations in the Bangladesh camp.
