Ben Dwarshuis led Sydney Sixers to an improbable last-ball victory over Sydney Thunder, smashing 15 runs off the final over to secure the win. Chasing a target of 164, Sixers were in trouble, needing 47 runs from the last four overs. However, Jordan Silk’s 36* off 25 balls helped them reduce the required runs to 30 before Dwarshuis took charge in the final moments.

Dwarshuis provided the late heroics, scoring 20 not out from eight balls. After hitting Lockie Ferguson for six on the first ball he faced, he took on Chris Green’s final over with 15 runs needed. Green’s first three deliveries were tough, but two wides outside off gave Dwarshuis the opportunity he needed. With seven runs required from two balls, Dwarshuis hit a crucial six over long-on and followed it up with a quick single to seal the win.

Earlier, Thunder’s Cameron Bancroft played a steady innings, scoring 70* off 52 balls to help his team post 163/5. Bancroft, a potential Test debutant, had been in the running for a spot after Cameron Green’s season-ending injury but has faced challenges with the bat this summer.

Bancroft’s 70* Anchors Thunder’s Innings, Konstas Dismissed for Duck in Test Call-Up Match

Cameron Bancroft, struggling with form in his previous 15 innings across all formats, returned to good touch against the Sixers, scoring 70* off 52 balls. His knock included three sixes and five fours, helping stabilize Thunder’s innings. Alongside Bancroft, Oliver Davies contributed 47 off 34 balls, hitting three consecutive sixes off Todd Murphy.

19-year-old Sam Konstas, playing his first match since being called up to Australia’s Test squad, was dismissed for a duck after bottom-edging a short ball from Akeal Hosein onto his stumps. This was a rare failure for Konstas, who had impressed earlier with twin centuries in the Sheffield Shield and a record-breaking debut in the BBL, where he scored the fastest 50 in Thunder’s history.

Konstas shared his excitement about his Test call-up, recalling how former Test opener Nathan McSweeney was one of the first to congratulate him. “I was so thrilled and called my parents straight away,” Konstas said. “Mum was in tears, Dad was super proud. It’s been an amazing journey with all the ups and downs.” Looking ahead, Konstas is eager for the challenge of facing India’s bowlers.

Shrijith’s 150* Guides Karnataka to Victory Over Mumbai in 383-Run Chase

K Shrijith’s remarkable unbeaten 150 off 101 balls guided Karnataka to a thrilling win in the second-highest successful chase in Vijay Hazare Trophy history. Chasing a daunting target of 383 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Karnataka reached the target with 3.4 overs to spare. Shrijith’s knock, in only his third List A game, led Karnataka to victory, surpassing Mumbai’s total despite a blistering 114* off 55 balls from Shreyas Iyer. Andhra’s chase of 384 in the 2011-12 season remains the highest successful chase in the tournament.

Iyer’s explosive innings included five fours and ten sixes, and it nearly propelled Mumbai to a dominant total. Mumbai’s innings started cautiously, with a solid 141-run second-wicket stand between Hardik Tamore (84 off 94) and Ayush Mhatre (78 off 82). After Iyer’s arrival, Mumbai’s scoring rate surged, as he added 30 off 22 with Tamore and 56 off 34 with Suryakumar Yadav. The final flurry saw Iyer and Shivam Dube put on an unbroken 148 off 65 balls, with Dube scoring 63* from 36 balls and Iyer blasting 74 off his final 29 balls.

While Mumbai’s innings was marked by steady accumulation followed by a rapid finish, Karnataka maintained a steady pace throughout their chase. They were 106 for 2 in the 15th over, with openers Nikin Jose (21 off 13) and Mayank Agarwal (47 off 48) dismissed, when Shrijith joined No. 3 KV Aneesh. The duo put on 94 runs for the third wicket, with Aneesh contributing 82 off 66 balls. The real fireworks came as Shrijith formed an unbroken 183-run partnership with Praveen Dubey.

Dubey, the legspinning all-rounder, played a valuable supporting role with 65 off 50 balls, while Shrijith continued to dominate, smashing 107 from 69 balls. Karnataka’s chase was relentless, and Mumbai’s bowlers, including Shardul Thakur, felt the heat, with Thakur going for 72 runs in his six wicketless overs. Despite Mumbai’s aggressive total, Karnataka’s clinical chase sealed a commanding win.
